Rector's speech

18.09.2014

Dear participants and guests of Teatralny Kufar International Student Theatre Festival!

It is the 11th time when the Belarusian State University welcomes the amateurs of the theatre arts under the motto “Traditions. Search. Experiment”.

I am sincerely glad that for this time our "Kufar" has received the status of a prestigious international forum. The geography of this festival is presented by theatres and artists from 15 countries, from the Balkans to South America. This genuine celebration of student creativity is a vivid illustration of the fact that the youth and talent can make our world more beautiful and kind.

I want to emphasize that 2014 is a special year, dedicated to Shakespeare. The most famous and perhaps the most mysterious dramatist on the planet turned 450 years old. Historians say that during his life Shakespeare had none of his works published, and some researchers still question the authorship of his plays and sonnets ... But these arguments do not interfere with popularity of William Shakespeare’s plays that gather full house in different countries and at different times.

The programme of Teatralny Kufar Festival has new conceptual projects, new participants - all designed to emphasize the variety of scenic languages and styles, but also to establish a dialogue, to bring together people, to tune for the understanding. And I am sure that the main advantage of our festival is its focus on unbiased judgment and creative unity.

Good luck to all participants of Teatralny Kufar International Student Theatre Festival!

Sergey Ablameyko,
Rector of Belarusian State University
Academician

Rector's speech

16.09.2013

Dear Friends,

Ten years ago the Belarusian State University initiated a new cultural project – Teatralny Koufar International Student Theatre Festival.

During this time, the Teatralny Koufar brand has become well-known, popular and important for many viewers. The audience of University Theatre admirers grows with each year.

If ten years ago Teatralny Koufar was only taking the first step in student theatre, introducing the basics of directing and acting to young people, now the Festival reaches a new stage – a stage of development, creation and integration into the world art and culture space, a stage to promote festival ideas further at international level, taking into account the Belarusian national traditions and mentality.

It is very symbolic that the Festival creative motto is "Tradition. Search. Experiment."!

This anniversary edition of "Teatralny Koufar, BSU-2013" will feature the best student theatres and renowned theatre personalities from 18 countries: Bangladesh, Belarus, Belgium, Canada, Estonia, France, Georgia, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Poland, Russia, Slovenia, and Turkey.

With their high creative skills and abilities, the Festival participants will present to the audience the most interesting, meaningful, relevant performances of a good taste.

For the past 10 years Teatralny Koufar has become a true platform for discussion of different viewpoints on life and creativity, a platform for self-realization of young people in the arts, for preservation and development of the best Belarusian and world theatre traditions, for enhancement of contacts between student theatres.

I would like to note that every year the Festival unites more and more talented creative individuals. They are connected with the bond of true friendship and noble sentiments.

Dear friends, I sincerely congratulate you on the 10th anniversary of the Teatralny Koufar Festival and wish you great success, happiness and inspiration in your work!

Sergey Ablameyko,
BSU Rector,
Academician
